Outpatient

There are times in everyone’s life when personal problems and challenges can interfere with enjoyment of life. The mission of CMHS’s Outpatient Program is to promote positive mental health through the provision of quality outpatient evaluation and treatment programs for people in our community.

Adult and Youth Outpatient Services

Services may include assessment, crisis intervention, individual, group and family therapy, group education and case management. Adult services are provided to those ages 18 years and older. Youth services are provided to children and adolescents up to age 17 and their families. Serious emotional disturbances and behavioral disorders will be treated as long as the consumer does not need inpatient or residential care. Children must have a means of transportation. With children under five, the focus will be on parenting skills.

CMHS’s therapeutic expectations are that many treatment issues can be resolved with brief, solution-focused therapy. We also recognize that some issues may require long-term therapy, but treatment will be based on incremental stages of improvement. You and your therapist will be working together to achieve your treatment goals in the shortest time possible.

Upon admission to outpatient counseling, you will be assigned a therapist who will tailor your counseling program according to your individual needs and goals. Your program also may include group, Medication Clinic, or family sessions. Therapy is by appointment with attendance a must for growth and change to take place. It is important that you participate in your appointment by sharing information and feelings with your counselor. The therapist, in turn, will be offering you feedback and suggestions about your issues.

Support Groups

CMHS offers a range of support and psycho-educational groups. Many of these groups are free of charge and are open to the community. You do not have to be an active CMHS client to participate in the groups offered.
