For over 45 years, Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Inc. has been serving the mental health needs of eastern Jackson County communities. Beginning in 1969, as the Independence Area Mental Health Center, and then as the Northeastern Jackson County Mental Health. The name Comprehensive Mental Health Services was adopted in 1981. Administration and outpatient services are housed in the William H. Kyles Building.

The Vaughan Building is the location for all of the Adult Community Support Services. The services provided at this location include community support, psycho-social rehabilitation, psychiatric and nursing services and Healthcare Home. This location serves over 500 consumers.

Turning Point is a 12-bed Intensive Residential Treatment Services facility. Adults with severe mental illness reside at this location and receive services directed at helping them to develop skills in all life domains helping them to achieve independence.

Spring House is an eight-bed crisis, respite, inpatient diversion facility for adults with a serious, persistent mental illness who require a stress-free alternative to inpatient care on a short-term basis. The short-term stay allows the patient to address any psychiatric crisis and/or achieve medication stabilization. Spring House is staffed 24 hours a day by a qualified nursing and mental health service staff.

Sunrise House is a 19-unit semi-independent housing complex constructed by the Community Housing Network under the HUD 811 guidelines. Supportive services in the facility are provided by Comprehensive Mental Health Services, Inc.
